What is it you are not understanding about this?


The fish are dying. According to researchers from the Canadian University of British Columbia 2 thirds of all predatory fish has now disappeared from the world’s seas – in the last century! When are consumers going to understand that the time (illusion) when the threat of the collapse of the marine ecosystem could be combating by changing what fish to eat depending on which species of fish was about to die at that moment is over. We can no longer blame politicians for being spineless in allowing these predatory corporate fishers with no regard to the lives of other species or the future of our planet to do as they wish. Actually, we never could. Politicians have always been, are and will be whores – they will go with the person (interest group) that gives them a wad of cash. Oh, do notice that I have nothing against actual whore, I want to be straight about that.

As a consumer you have two option. Stop bitching about the lack of spine of politicians about this and stop saying that you care about the future of the seas, since you carefully pick what fish to eat, OR stop eating fish (and fish oil). Simple as that. Since fish are totally laden with mercury nowadays you don’t even have a health reason to do it either. You can get far more Omega-3’s from ground up flax seeds.

The definition of corruption


Last year Margot Wallström got a UN-job as a representative (Swedish) to monitor women’s situation during war and other conflicts. She got it the job january 31st, one month earlier SIDA (the institution who monitors and gives money for welfare work in developing countries) had given 43 million SEK (6.7 million USD) to a UN-fond working with the same stuff ) – sexual violence in armed conflicts. Coincidentally enough this was done the autumn of 2009 when they found at a position to work against sexual violence would be appointed. This was a good idea, because as it happens the UN didn’t have any money for her employments so 1 million SEK from this fond – supposed to aid actual victims, was used to ay for her salariey and the salaries of her staff. She gets between 10 800-12 000 USD, tax-free (they pay a due to the UN instead). As a Swedish person I am totally ashamed of my country.

It also seems as she didn’t even get the job through the original general assembly where the different member countries has the power, but rather through Ban Ki-moon and the security council.

But no, this is not corruption, no of course not. How do I now this, because Margot Wallström says “For a person who comes outside this can seem peculiar, but this is how this are always done”. SIda and the department of foreign affairs and Sida claims (feigns ignorance) they do not have any knowledge of any affair, but only started lobbying when they found out that Wallström could get the position.

The definition of corruption is not realizing when you are engaged in corrupt behavior or in an organization which has systematized it. For people to cry wolf now and demand that Ban Ki-moon gets replaced is too late. The corruption is too systematized so you either have to replace the entire bunch or just let the UN (run by a coalition of anti-libertarian countries or those who don’t believe in globalized cooperation) disappear and replacing it with cooperation with US, EU and hopefully sometime in the future emerging coalitions from a democratized africa (I am NOT talking about the dictator-run African Union)

Getting serious about training

Yesterday I visited veganbodybuilding.com and read a very interesting article called “True Intensity” (http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/?page=article_trueintensity) and I realized after that that the results I have gotten after picking up my training after Christmas have not been as optimal as they could be, simply because I have been wussing out on how far to take it. Ironically enough this was from reading an article by someone else on the site cautioning not to take it to muscle exhaustion. Looking back, I did get a lot faster gains when I started we weightless training last semester (and gave up over Christmas and then some) so I tried an experiment and took what Robert Cheeke considers a good workout pass and did it with the feeling of true intensity. And true, it was intense, not only for now, not for last semester, but probably more than ever. Intensity means how far you take the exercise, taking one exercise at a time, instead of rotating around a bunch, minimizing the time you allow your body to rest between sets and exercises (which also allows you to work up a sweat, something that has been lacking here) – as durianrider says “if you put the body through similar conditions you will get similar results” and I really felt that this will yield results. Can’t wait till I get Cheeke’s book “Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness”, but I can already feel the new me coming. Watch out world, the change is happening.

Cucumber-Orange Dressing


I’ve been having a problem keeping to the 80/10/10 diet. Not quitting the raw or the ratios, but rather keeping to the 2-6% greens. I don’t like green smoothie, making zucchini noodles is tasty, but not THAT tasty. Ok, I’m left with salads then, but I don’t really know that many dressings. I know a few – most expensive to make, at least if we are talking on a daily basis. So I went ahead and bought Andrew Perlot’s: Savory Raw Dressings and Sauces, and BOY am I glad I did. It is a great book. Not many recipes, actually just 8, but they are really good and simple (and most cases very cheap) recipes to make, but more importantly he also talks a lot about the principles for how you make your own creations (important to me later, but not now) and how to make a tomato sauce thicker or thinner (very important for me). I went ahead and tried out this really cheap and totally delicious creation an orange-cucumber dressing on a bed of spinach: Peel a medium cucumber and blend together with an orange and pour over the salad, so simple, so delish, do FANTASTIC – thank you for the book Andrew (Yes, I did pay, but he still deserves thanks for it).

Good, but not good enough

Researchers in Ireland, Denmark and Finland, drawing their conclusions from two studies done on 140 girls (altogether) in Denmark and Finland, have found out that teenage girls needs to receive twice as much vitamin-d as they presently do. The researchers measured their vitamin levels and nutritional intake under the course of a year as well as giving them extra vitamin-d (in various concentrations).

My, oh my, there must be a lot of vegan teenage girls in Denmark and Finland, huh? Or maybe, just maybe the idea that vegans are the only ones deficient in some vitamins (B12 comes to mind) is totally wrong, instead mainstream is at least as much deficient as vegans, if not more in these vitamins, and definitely not as aware of the fact.

I think this study was great, finally mainstream will need to realize that vitamin-d deficiency is very common. It just isn’t possible, or at the very least difficult, for the average scandinavian to get enough sunlight to last the entire winter from our tiny summer (what is it – 3 weeks?). I’m also very glad that the RDI of vitamin-d will be raised. But outside of this, what will be done?

Not very much as it seems. They will fortify certain products, but since it will probably be products that cause more harm than good (milk comes to mind) it will only cause the public who already consume too much dairy to up the ante even more to make sure they don’t get deficient, because you know – “you can never drink too much milk”. The recommendations for sunlight exposure, besides being difficult to get enough for our long winter anyways, are still as flimsy as ever. You should be out in the sun (no mention of I don’t know – duration, maybe) 2-3 times/week. This is totally ridiculous and flimsy. Stop with blaming the sun. You getting burnt by the sun is not a 1-1 equation. The sun reacts with your nutrition to promote health. More is better as long as you can handle it. For light-skinned people – 15-20 minutes daily, and for dark-skinned people at least 2 or 3 times that. And then the most ridiculous of all – eat more fish to get vitamin-d. Even ignoring that humans can ingest animal flesh properly, it’s still laden with mercury, making the so-called “health” choice of eating fish highly questionable (don’t do it). But it doesn’t matter, because you can’t get enough vitamin-d from fish unless you eat very high amounts of it, and even then you would need to do so on a daily basis.

What they are doing however, is not as important as what they are not doing. Because as we all know, the MSM are always being the pushers to get us to consume more leftovers from e.g. the fish industry (fish oil) so of course they are promoting that people should take Vitamin-d3 (the kind easily synthesized within the body, right?). Buh, buh – no million dollar prize for you. The only thing that would actually help with the widespread vitamin-d deficiency is not done. And there you have MSM and Swedish policy in a nutshell “we will give you hazardous recommendations to give you the illusion of attaining health, but getting real health – come on, we have a business to run here, if people were healthy who are we going to push all our drugs to?”.

This is ridiculous


Fryshuset – a great “institution” in Sweden, run be an ex-gang member are doing some great work helping gang members leave the criminal world and strengthening young peoples confidence so they don’t trip into the gang-world, but because Swedish people/politicians have alcohol paranoia/repression the municipal district committee has forbidden this great place to serve alcohol because it does not “promote a positive image of the adult world”. Hey, I think ex-gang members (and teenagers with low self-esteem and in danger of heading into gangs) are pretty aware of what alcohol is, ok? I don’t drink nor do I support doing so, but I recognize it for what it is – a personal decision exercising our free will, which need have nothing to do with promoting any image of the adult world. I would think being overweight/obese, eating junk food, being a couch potato and many other things “adults” do would promote a far less beautiful picture, but I don’t see them outlawing those people in there. Why do we have to be the stupid country that can’t pronounce the P in Personal decision…
